Get Involved!

Virtually every aspect of a teacher’s and education employee’s professional life is impacted by decisions politicians make in Tallahassee and Washington DC. As a public sector employee your working conditions like the salary you will be paid, the number of students in your classroom, the availability equipment and textbooks and the quality of the learning environment of your students to name a few will be impacted by who we elect to public office. Politics is woven into every aspect of public education.

CTA members work together to screen and recommend candidates that will support public schools. These recommendations provide insight to CTA members as to which candidate understands and will support positions that benefit students and education employees. CTA members recommend only candidates that support public education regardless of their political party affiliation.

CTA members communicate with legislators and elected officials at all levels in order to secure funding, improve student’s learning conditions and improve the working conditions of education employees. This is done by visiting legislators in Tallahassee, contacting legislators by phone, email and letter as well as attending political forums.

It is crucial that you stay informed and get politically involved. Today more than ever individuals and groups who oppose public schools or simply do not understand the work you do are using politics as a way to attack us. Please answer the call to action when CTA needs you to contact your elected officials.
